I am so excited to share this trip with you all!  This was my husband and I's first trip since having the twins and honestly it was bittersweet for us.  We were so nervous to leave them but super  excited for our time alone lol! I definitely wanted this trip to be more of a relaxing ALL DAY kind of thing and it was! It felt amazing to sleep in late, eat a meal without having to reheat it a few times haha and then of course just head out to the beach/pool for the day.  I'm not gonna lie there was a little mom guilt at times but I knew they were in great hands and that's what kept me sane.

RESORT & ROOM//

We stayed at the W Punta de Mita in Punta Mita, Mexico, which is located about 45 mins. away  from Puerto Vallarta. We rented a car from the PV airport and drove out to our hotel. (the road to get into Punta de Mita is safe.) This resort was absolutely gorgeous! I fell in love with how they fully embraced the colorful Mexican decor.  It is definitely a fun, trendy vibe type of place. When we arrived they drove us in cute little golf carts through the jungle and to the lobby for check- in. The service was good, everyone was super friendly. We actually arrived on a pretty busy day for them, the lady at the front desk told us they were having an annual event called "RIVIERA SUNSETS" which was pretty much a big spring break party with  different DJ's, food and drinks. So that was actually pretty fun to see... we had our little "Spring Breakers" moment that evening lol! Now about our room.. it was so pretty! We had a jungle view which was nice and private. We also had a nice big "bubble bath" style tub.. totally relaxing. I could have literally just stayed in our room the whole trip!

FOOD//

They had 4 restaurants at our resort.

Spice Market- which is a South East Asian street cuisine. This was definitely the priciest out of all 3 places but it was worth it in our opinion. I also really liked the decor/setup of this restaurant lots of lighting and a cute bar area. We had dinner here on our second night and it was so delicious. FYI the plates here are big enough to share! We actually shared a few dishes but our favorite was the grilled shrimp appetizer plate.

Venazu- this is a super cute and colorful Mexican restaurant. They served an affordable breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast it was a buffet style, they had really great omelettes, yummy french toast and hot cakes and some really good coffee! We also lunch there a few times, we loved the  "Queso Fundido" it was literally to die for! They also serve some great street tacos! (chicken, shirmp and beef) Also, the Mexican churros are a must try!!!!

Chevycheria- such cool concept! This is a 1950's Chevy truck turned into a bar.  They serve freshly caught ceviche and some savory tostada chips & guacamole. They also have good cocktails! I stuck to Pina-coladas (my fav) the whole trip lol but my hubby tried a few different drinks. His favorite was the Michelada.

Mesa1- This is a private dinner table with a seven-course menu. We didn't get to eat here because of the fact that it only hosts one seating per night. So you definitely need to make reservations in advance.

They also have a great place for lite bites, snacks and drinks by the pool called "The Wet Deck" this has more of an americanized menu. They served good burgers, mexican-style hot dogs and pizza. The pool-side servers were really awesome too!

WHAT WE DID//

Like I mentioned earlier we wanted this trip to be about us relaxing and enjoying time just the two of us, so we spend a majority of our days either lounging around at the pool or walking on the beach which was great! We also spent one morning at The Away Spa getting a couples massage. We were able visit Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta too.

SAYULITA: This surf town was the cutest place! We spend the day exploring and walking around the city. We had brunch by the beach at a little outdoor cafe called "PANINIOS" their chilaquiles were super yummy! We also had lunch here in the afternoon at a place called "MARY'S" I really loved this area because there was so much art and pretty colors everywhere... great for pictures. We got to take a few pictures at the cutest hotel ever! There is also lots of markets to do some shopping. It's only about a 25 min. drive from Punta Mita and I think its a must do day trip!

PUERTO VALLARTA:  We drove about 45mins from Punta Mita back into the city for the day. We saw and walked the boardwalk of Malecon. If you are ever in PV you must do this! It's the heart and soul of the town, there is a lot to see and such a real Mexican experience. We had brunch at a delicious cafe, called "LA TOSTADERIA" we also did all our souvenir shopping in this area too, they had really cutes shopping markets everywhere along the side of the boardwalk.

Overall this trip was just what the hubby and  I needed! The W hotel was everything we could have wanted for a refreshing week. If you all are ever in this area be sure to make plans to stay there, you won't regret! I am so ready to go back, and always ready to hop on a plane to Mexico!

Xoxo!
